Portugal South Coast - Lisbon to Spanish Border

This shrine-like portal is one of the entrances to Jeronimos Monastery. It is two stories 32m high and 12m wide. It is highly ornate with intricately carved stonework, pillars and statues typical of gothic architecture. That is a statue of Henry the Navigator standing on a pedestal between the two carved wooden doors.
